LL1 Takes their Show on the Road
On an unseasonally warm day in January, LL1 made the short trip west to the Tavistock arena for another classic matchup of New Hamburg vs. Tavi. This rivalry is almost as old as hockey itself and none of that history was lost on our boys!
Eager to keep NH in the win column vs. the young but tough Tavistock Titans, the LL1 boys came out skating aggrisively at the first drop of the puck. And into the second period, the coaching staff decided to shake things up a bit by moving all 4 of our regular defencemen up to forward, and 4 of our regular forwards finished the game playing D.
The game featured some savy passing, exciting break-a-ways, top corner wrist shots and a rebound goal after a cannonating blast from the point. At the end of it all, NH came away with another shut-out victory, 5-0!
Another player getting a chance at a new position was our Hard Hat winner, Logan M. Normally a gritty winger, Logan lined up at centre for the game and did not look out of place one bit! His quick hands helped him win some face offs that led to a couple of break-a-ways, and also kept the opponents to the boards on the defensive zone face offs. His small frame allowed him to zip between Tavi checkers as he constantly was able to clear the puck out of his teams zone so as to keep the Titans off the scoreboard. Great job Logan....keep up the good work!
Next week LL1 will once again be on the road as they had to Woolwhich for the Novice Cup Challenge Tournament. First game is Saturday at 8am so get to bed early on Friday night, boys!
