The Canadian Legion Major Peewee A Huskies played host to the Caledon Hawks on November 15 in one of the fastest paced games the club has played. Having let one slip through the cracks a month earlier against this opponent while on the road, the Dogs were looking for a little redemption at home.

Both teams hit the ice running, and it wasn’t long before both teams were registering shots. Netminder Colton Holba was tested early and proved solid between the pipes while Tim Geiger returned the favour by unloading from the point on the Caledon goalie. It was scoreless after one but things would heat up in the second. The Evan Denison and Josh Beach tag-team were doing sterling service battling for the puck behind the Caledon net and came up roses. Beach broke it loose and Denison walked it out firing a shot at point blank range. The pad rebound would have ended the effort but line-mate Sam Miller was too quick and hoisted it into the rigging to draw first blood. The Hawks battled back and registered their own point on a screened point shot lees than two minutes later. And so the sea-saw battles continued with both sides fore-checking hard and getting chances. There was no respite in the third as the already fast and furious pace found a newer, higher level of ferocity. Holba was once again hard pressed but kept his cool. Husky defenceman Lucas Bast was equally adept at shutting down Caledon drives, executing text-book hip checks to all attackers. The hard work bore fruit in the form of another goal. Geiger popped one in on his own rebound with the helpers going to Owen Ross and Joel Domm. The celebration was short as the Hawks added another of their own on a scrum that saw the puck trickle past the Husky goal line. The end-to-end action continued but neither side could find advantage in this game that was un-marred by penalties. The Dogs had to accept the 2 – 2 tie at the end of regulation in spite of the good effort. Dan O’Connell secured the TLC Pet Food player of the game award for his outstanding contribution throughout the contest.
