HUSKIES HL3 TOURNAMENT WEEKEND
A great, well organised first tournament for the boys in Elmira.

This past weekend in Elmira, the boys showed once again that they can compete with other centres.  The Woolwich Memorial Cup had the Huskies HL3 team going against two local teams from Woolwich, and the third from Lambton Shores.  Our first game against WW3 ended in a hard fought 1-1 tie even after scoring first and with solid defensive effort throughout the game.  Cohen White was awarded game MVP for skating hard, always in the play, and showing no signs of quit.  Aiden Klasnic tallied the team's only goal of the game.
Our second game pinned us against WW1 - being a little tired from the earlier game and with a few waffle bellies, the Huskies still continued to show a great effort, resulting in a 2-1 loss.  Again, the lone goal was scored by Aidan, who as always, was relentless in his efforts up and down the ice, earning him the game's MVP.

Day two of the tournament had us facing elimination and challenging the Predators from Lambton Shores.  The boys came out with all cylinders firing, taking a commanding lead 2-0 in the first period.  Again, a solid defensive effort, and goaltending from Deklan JermolKohen Patten earned the game's MVP netting two goals with strong contributions from Zack Knorr, Hayden Jack, and Kaden Griffith even helping out on the back check.  We struggled on the ensuing powerplay with all teammates trying hard to contribute, and ended up getting caught on the offensive, handing the Predators two shorthanded goals.  Strong offensive play once again from the defensive lines of Trent Agnello, pushing into the predator zone to force the puck deep, while at the same time hussling back to challenge the offense in front of our net, even earning himself some penalty time.  Eric Mackay rushed the net for his second breakway of the tournament only to be cut short at the last minute.  Aidan found the net for his 3rd goal of the tournament and Cameron Langer stood strong with solid positioning and often our last line of defense, making some key checks at the right time.  Our wingers managed to move the puck up the ice several times throughout the third, and with some key passes from Jackson Mosburger, Caleb Hussey and Finn Scozzafava, we showed the Lambton Shores team that we weren't going to give up, and kept the pressure in their end.  The final score resulted in a 5-3 loss for our Huskies, but the coaching staff was very pleased with the effort and we know we all had a lot of fun, and can't wait for another tournament!  All of the boys should be commended for their efforts.  In particular, for showing no quit throughout the tournament, a strong consistent effort period to period, making smart plays in both the defensive and offensive zones, the Hardest Working Player of the Tournament is awarded to Eric Mackay
