Minor Peewee Split a Pair
Written by Tim Yantzi
The Expressway Ford Minor Peewee A faced a new opponent to the league last Tuesday at the WRC.  The Huskies faced off against the Woolwich Wildcats in front of a home crowd. With Woolwich coming off fresh from the AA loop for the past two years and being new to the league the Huskies knew they were up for a battle. Woolwich came out strong scoring the first goal of the game taking the lead 1-0.

With a ping pong style scoring match,Liam Schweitzer poked in the tying goal for New Hamburg at the 6 minute mark in the second period off of a rebound by Nick Black from the pass of defenceman Reese Yantzi. With the dogs then being down by one the score being 2-1 going into the third, the Dogs forwards dug deep making Woolwich scramble with some awesome scoring opportunities but just couldn't penetrate the Wildcats goaltending. Huskie blue liners Logan Kleine, Peter Holmes, Cole Wallace, Luke Timmons,  all gave a valiant effort fending off the Wildcats attack with the Huskies losing the battle 4-1.  Rookie goaltender Liam Robertson gave a stellar performance between the posts for the huskies

On Fri. Oct. 18th the Huskies travelled to Brampton for a late Friday night game. The first period saw the Huskies off to a slow start with Brampton scoring the only goal of the first period. Luke Timmons started the Huskies spark in the second scoring a powerplay goal with a shot from the point off tic-tac-toe passing from defencemen Logan Kleine and Reese Yantzi. Timmons added his second with a blast from the blue line assisted by Kleine, Owen Turner and Colin Dwyer. Early on the third Turner put the dogs up by two with great play making by Timmons and Dwyer. Brampton made it a game for their home town crowd late in the third by closing the gap and pulling within one, the final being 3-2. Josh Durrer earned the win in net for New Hamburg. The Huskies now have a well deserved break in their schedule until they travel to Owen Sound on Sun Oct 27, and then back at the dog house to meet Brampton on Tues. Oct.29.
