Husky LL2s On A Roll In Cambridge
The New Hamburg Huskies Midget LL2s seem to be unstoppable at this point in regular season. With six straight wins under their belts, they headed to Cambridge on November 8 to take on the Hespeler Shamrocks in what they hoped would be another successful match.

The Dogs were fast out of the gate, forcing the offensive zone but the Shamrock goalie stood his ground. The hosts fought back and Colton Holba had to be quick with his paddle more than once to keep the contest deadlocked. The opener came when Mason Wagner fed Connor Ross who sprinted up ice and beat the goalie in a game of chicken. Holba was again forced to be sharp early in the second when a Shamrock forward broke away from the pack. Coming way out of his net, he stymied a solid scoring chance allowing his team to turn it around on the next play. Owen Ross broke the puck out to his brother who then pulled a repeat performance to make it a 2 – 0 game. Josh Potts would get the third goal on a rebound from Daniel O’Connell before the hosts retaliated. A defensive zone breakdown was all it took for the Shamrocks to capitalize and serve notice that this game was still up for grabs. Penalties levied at the Dogs did not help and they were hard pressed as the period ended. The third period started badly for the visitors with another penalty but a matching holding call against the Shamrocks meant a 4-on-4 dual. Brandon Wagler forced the zone, dug out the puck and found Dale Jurica open on the point. Jurica’s cross-ice pass was immediately teed up by Mason Wagner, resulting in a fourth Husky point. The wind went out of the host’s sails and the Dogs bagged two more quick points. Tyler Kumpf fed the puck to Potts working down low. His wrap-around attempt was deflected in by Matt Sommerville to take a fifth Husky goal. Owen Ross was again working breakout to Wyatt Rempel who got the puck deep. His perfect cross-crease pass to was the setup for Connor Ross’s hat trick on the night. The Shamrock’s last gasp came late on another defensive zone scramble but the victory celebration was muted when seconds later Potts put in the finisher getting help from both Ross brothers. It was a stunning 7 – 2 win that is currently anchoring the Huskies LL2 in first place. They hope to maintain that position when they meet the Huskies LL1 on November 15.
