If your son/daughter is simply out for some additional ice time, please let me know. All players are expected to arrive 30 minutes before each ice time and please be dressed and ready 10 minutes before the start of any exhibition games.
Please know that during the evaluation process, I will be evaluating each of the boys/girls on the following:
-
Overall skating ability - forwards, backwards, edge work, cross-overs & speed
-
Individual skills - puck control, stick handling, shooting and passing
-
Over-all work ethic, coachability and consistent effort each and every shift.
Players will be assessed during the first 2 try-out sessions. No releases will occur until after the second ice session via the NHHA website. Each player will receive a unique try-out number at our first session. Please keep track of your spring tryout number. Releases will be made on the website according the the schedule above (subject to change). If your NHHA spring tryout number is not shown on the website following a set of releases then your son/daughter has been released from the team. For in-person interviews, we ask that one parent join the interview. Out of respect and privacy for each of the players, I would ask that families leave the arena directly following your interview.
And finally, Rep hockey is a significant commitment both ‘financially’ and from a ‘time’ perspective. For time commitment, you should expect:
-
OMHA play downs will begin in early January and can continue through the end of March (including March Break). Our expectation is that all team members attend (if this requirement cannot be met please let me know during tryouts)
-
The team will be participating in 3-4 tournaments throughout the year including, potentially, during Christmas Holidays. Again it is our expectation that all players are present (if this requirement cannot be met please let me know during tryouts)
-
At least 1-2 practices per week (morning and/or evening)
-
Generally 2 games per week
You can expect that the upfront financial commitment will be approximately:
Registration Fee $535 (before June 30)
Rep Fee $290
Team Fee $530
Total $1,355
Once the roster is finalized, more specific information will be given to the team regarding all of the above fees and player expectations.
Any costs for team clothing (track suits, pant shells etc.) will be over-and-above the approximate team fee shown above.
Thank you for your continuing support of New Hamburg Hockey. If you have any further questions regarding the Atom A Tryouts, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
Sincerely,
Kevin Abbott
