U16BB Huskies Undefeated Champs at Bulldog Challenge Cup
Burlington, ON — The U16BB New Hamburg Huskies delivered an outstanding performance this past weekend at the Bulldog Challenge Cup, finishing the tournament a perfect 5–0 and showcasing a complete team effort and determination from start to finish.

The Huskies kicked off the tournament Friday afternoon with a hard-fought 2–1 win over the chippy Oakville Rangers A1. Solid defensive play, team play and timely scoring helped set the tone for the weekend.

In their second game of the day, New Hamburg took on the Burlington Bulldogs Blue and put together a dominant effort at both ends of the ice, skating away with a 3–0 shutout victory.

Saturday’s matchup came against a strong Guelph Gryphons squad. In one of the tightest games of the tournament, the Huskies stayed composed and capitalized on key opportunities, earning a 3–2 win and remaining undefeated heading into Sunday.

Sunday morning saw New Hamburg take on the Burlington Bulldogs White with a spot in the final standings on the line. The Huskies came out flying, controlling the game and securing a 4–1 win.

In the final game of the weekend, the Huskies faced the very strong Hamilton Huskies and closed out the tournament in resounding and impressive fashion. Strong goaltending and disciplined team play with a short bench led to their second shutout of the event — a 4–0 victory to seal the undefeated weekend.

Over five games, New Hamburg played short handed for the bulk of the tournament overcoming injuries and suspensions and outscored their opponents 16–4, earned two shutouts, and demonstrated depth, work ethic and teamwork. The Huskies now carry this momentum forward as they return to league play.
