Goal Scoring Touch Returns in Georgetown
(by team reporter Albert Ross)

With a win and a loss against the Georgetown Raiders, the Canadian Legion Major Peewee A’s were determined to finish on top on December 10 in their last regular season meeting. The Raiders had home ice advantage and it appeared to pay dividends as they potted their first goal with only a minute elapsed. The Huskies fought back.

Wyatt Rempel and Sammy Miller battled for the puck down low and got it out to Evan Denison riding high in the slot. His shot rebounded off the pads but a second shot hit the mark. Tim Geiger, getting a feed from Josh Blier, added his own marker on a screened point shot to take his team into the lead. The Raiders fought back but net-minder Colton Holba was sharp, deflecting 4 solid scoring chances to close out the frame. He added a glove save to the tally early in the second before his team found the powder supply and blew the Raiders out of the water. Beach ripped one from the point with Denison securing the assist followed by Jackson Normandeau’s deflection play on a bullet from Blier. Dan O’Connell nearly added to the total on a breakaway but it would be Denison coming up big on a deke play with the helper going to Jackson Gerber. The reeling Raiders suffered another goal against when Geiger tipped in a shot from Greg Yeoman while on the power-play. Normandeau was again deadly, planting his second point on the night upstairs on a feed from Evan Bender. With a dominating 6-goal lead, the Huskies were relentless in the third. Denison added his hat trick point on a shot over the goalie’s shoulder getting help from Beach. The Raiders were clearly struggling but managed to recover enough to pot their second and last goal on a power-play as the clock wound down. It was a dominating 8 – 2 win that saw the Huskies out-work and out-score their opponent. It’s fitting that the TLC Pet Food player of the game award is equally split between Denison, who was an offensive powerhouse during the match and Geiger, who led the defensive punch.
