Midget LL2 Deadlocked at Home
The New Hamburg Huskies Midget LL2 were looking for their first win of the season on October 26 after taking a one goal loss to the St. George Generals the previous week.

With that in mind, the lads hit the ice running and had registered their first goal with less than a minute gone against their fraternity brothers, the Midget LL2’s. Andrew Just got the puck to the net and a nice tip in by Damian Naylor sealed the deal to open the scoring. The offensive continued with the Connor Ross, Cam Gingerich and Pat Glofcheskie line coming close on a high pressure drive. The momentum changed when the LL2’s were levied a head-shot call that their opponent capitalized on. The power-play goal left the game deadlocked at the end of the frame and things would not get easier for the squad heading into the second. A string of penalties left the LL2’s fending off repeated attacks that net-minder Chris Thrush met head on. Returning to full strength, the LL2’s turned it around and once again regained the lead. Brandon Tracey’s dangle in the offensive zone hit pay dirt to close the frame. The opposition fought back in the third and nearly succeeded with a two-man rush that Thrush expertly turned aside. The back-and-forth play continued but it was their rivals that found the net first to re-establish the tie. It was a short-lived celebration as the LL2’s pegged another on the next shift. Owen Houle’s pass to the point was teed up by Sean Boake. The bullet was deflected by Just to regain the lead. But this game was too tough to call. The LL1’s proved resilient and walked another one in minutes later to retie the game for the final time. The final buzzer left the scoreboard with a 3 – 3 stalemate and the LL2’s are still looking for that elusive first win. They hope to find it when they face Tavistock at home on November 2.
