Husky LL2s Overcome LL3's
The stage was set for a real barn-burner at the Wilmot Recreation Complex on November 16 when the Midget Husky LL2’s played host to their brethren Midget Husky LL3’s. The opposition was daunting in the first frame catching the LL2’s a bit flat-footed.

A couple of back-to-back minors kept the Pack on the penalty-kill with the only bright-spot coming from Owen Houle as he narrowly missed a scoring chance on a short-handed drive. The LL3’s responded late in the frame with a pair of goals, the first a tip-in and the second on a screened bullet. It was a rude wake-up call that the LL2’s needed to get their game in gear and start playing like a disciplined team. The answer came mid-way through the second on a nice breakout by Tyler Griffith as he hoisted the puck into the neutral zone. Connor Ross scooped the disk and found Cam Gingerich as he raced up the side. His centering pass found Pat Glofcheskie who made no mistake and got his team on the board. More chances followed when Brandon Tracey and Eric Noseworthy tried to repeat the earlier success but the LL3 goalie was looking sharp. The third frame was a desperate battleground with both sides getting chances. Chris Thrush looked solid between the pipes for the LL3’s and warded off another sustained opposition power-play before his team turned it around. Canden Addley nearly got the equalizer on a breakaway but it would be the LL3’s that would be the architects of their own undoing. Undisciplined play would see an LL3 in the box with a double major giving the LL2’s the chance they needed. Houle came up roses with a backhand on an unassisted power-play effort to tie the game at the 3-minute mark. The momentum was clearly in the host’s favour with the winner coming with 30 seconds remaining. Mackenzie Rykman got the puck to the net where a mad scramble ensued. Glofcheskie centered it and Ross buried it to seal the 3 – 2 victory. It’s an experience the Huskies hope to repeat on November 29 when they travel to St. Jacobs to take on the Wildcat LL3s.
