Huskies Victorious In Embro
The Midget Husky LL2’s were on the road in Embro on December 7 to do battle with the Edge in what became an exemplary display of solid teamwork. The LL2’s had been struggling to find the right line combinations that would crack open the victory box but this night would prove the search was over.

The team looked hungry for the win when they set foot on the ice and immediately started taking the play to the Embro net. Owen Houle set the bar high on a solid scoring chance that was followed up by Eric Noseworthy on a pass from Connor Ross. The Edge goalie was on his game and kept the Huskies off the score sheet heading into the second. An interference call against the Edge early in the frame saw the Pack delivering blistering attacks into the offensive zone. First it was a tic-tac-toe play by Houle, Gingerich and Damian Nayler who very nearly opened the scoring with a shot from the side of the net. Following that example, Ross and Canden Addley made their own play but once again, their efforts were stymied by a sharp Edge net-minder. It would seem that this game was going to be a heartbreaker when the hosts broke through the Husky defense and tallied half way through the frame. The Dogs did not back down and continued the offensive flair going into the third. Jamie Rennick kept the hopes alive when he stoned an Edge breakaway, buying his team time. Things took a turn for the worse on a head shot call against the Huskies that turned the clock into an enemy for the visitors. Incredibly, the offensive spirit went into overdrive with a breakout pass from Colton Hussey hitting the tape of Ross who in turn fed Addley as he sprinted up ice. He beat the goalie, retying the contest on the shorthanded effort. It would seem the lesson permeated the ranks as the very next shift saw a repeat. Teammates Robert Bowman and Andrew Just blew past the defenders with Just eying his fellow attacker for the slot pass. The goalie read it wrong and Just backhanded the puck into the rigging to take his team into the lead on another amazing shorthanded play. The celebration was short as the Edge dug in their heels and retied the contest on the power-play but it was their last gasp. The Dogs were smelling blood and with a full strength line, they took it to the offensive zone in a frenzy. A mid-ice scrum saw Ross again feeding Addley who stormed the Edge net, found the sweet spot and regained the lead. The Edge looked like they might come back when the Huskies took an interference call but Rennick was having none of it. The wind went out of the Edge sails when Houle mounted an end-to-end rush to secure the insurance marker on a third shorthanded effort. It was an astounding 4 – 2 victory that demonstrated the Huskies may have finally hit their stride.
