The Wilhelm financial
midget LL#3 pack headed to Tillsonburg to participate in the Max Partlo
Memorial Tournament .
Game 1 the dogs would take on the host team Tillsonburg LL#2 and true to their name the Tornados came out in whirlwind and would take a shot on netminder Liam Sanders just 11 seconds in but Saunders was on his game. With the huskies holding their own with a man in the box Nathan Gerber feeds the puck to Cameron Gingerich who lets one rip from just inside the blue line and the huskies are on the board with just 1.5 minutes off the clock with a short handed goal .Saunders would see plenty of action in the latter half of the first but nothing was getting past him. Andrew Just , Mike Glauser set up the play allowing Owen Houle to execute a sweet backhander to put the dogs up a pair . The dogs would spend a lot of time in the penalty box with some one sided officiating but regardless dominate the remainder of the game. Connor Ross from the top of the circle burries the biscuit top shelf at the mid way point assisted by Mike Thrush & Wyatt Stone. The huskies kept the pressure on and bing ,bang ,boom Nathan Gerber to Brandon Wagler and off the stick of Cameron Gingerich the packs up another , mere seconds later these 3 would score again Gerber to Gingerich and Brandon "BWags" Wagler nets his first goal of the season! Colin Shannon, Austin Hartman are working hard on "D" the pack advance to pool B semi finals with a 5-0 win over the hometown hosts. Game 2 the huskies are against tough league rivals the Beverly Bandits . Beverly would tally early on goal keeper Wyatt Whitby in the first. That would be the only goal the bandits would get past Whitby who came way out of the crease to intercept the play on a Beverley breakaway and deny the bandits. With momentum building Owen Houle would deak out the Bandits goalie and tie up the game late in the first . The period would end with a flurry of action on Beverley's door step Cameron Gingerich to Nathan Gerber put the huskies in the lead. Beverley were doing their best to shorten the gap but the dogs Damian Naylor, Mike Glauser get the puck over to Owen Houle who tips it in and it’s a 3-1 game . Camden Addley and Sean Boake would help ensure Beverley is kept at bay the huskies played a penalty free game and advance to the Championship game against no other but a pack of Huskies! Who themselves had 2 great games in pool A semi finals. Game 3 and its dog against dog as 2 packs of New Hamburg's Huskies go at it for the Tillsonburg Tournament Championship. Liam Sanders in net for the #3 pack and Jack Seebach got the start for the LL#1. Both packs of dogs seemed a little docile in the first as the period remained scoreless. Things wound up early in the 2nd when Brandon "BWags" Wagler tallied his second of the tournament assisted by Trent Reinhardt and Cameron Gingerich. Moments later it was Dylan Hempey scoring on a feed from BWags & Glauser putting the LL#3 up a pair. The Local League #1 pack would switch up goalies with Connor Warren now tending net as both teams would continue to battle LL#1 trying hard to get on the board but the LL3# 3 dashed all hopes as Cameron Gingerich to Mike Thrush up to Andrew Just to tally and the LL #3 pack are up 3 goals with his team hungry for the win Liam Saunders remained a beast in the crease earning his second shutout of the day. The New Hamburg Huskies LL#3 Wilhelm Financial Pack earn the tournament Champions with a 3-0 victory and an impressive 11 -1 GF/GA . Teamwork gets it done boys!
