The B-W Feed & Seed New Hamburg Minor Atom A Rep team let the Hespeler Shamrocks know it was their house Nov 22nd.
Although the Shamrocks came out hard, the Dogs kept them
under control with good end to end play and great saves by Tyler Clements. The
score remained 0-0 by the end of the second period. Third period play resumed
with Hespeler hitting the netting first, thus lighting a fire under the Dogs.
The Huskies lengthened their strides and sharpened their skills to sound the
horn in their favour twice. Final score Huskies 2, Hespeler 1.
Nov 25th saw the Huskies invade the Shamrock home
with action starting right away. Control of the opening faceoff was won with
Sam Thorne passing to Griffin Smith who fed Kyle Barr, who rushed, shot and
scored the Dogs first goal in 11 seconds of play. Hespeler turned up the tempo
and first period play would end with Hespeler in the lead 2-1. Joey Gibson and
Holden Ehgoetz had a number of great opportunities in the Shamrocks zone but a
hot glove sent them away many times. Matt Eddy’s exit pass found Smith’s stick
feeding Thorne’s rush for another goal ending the 2nd period in a
tie. Third period play saw Aaron Bell, Evan Green and Austin Lee-Barker read
defensive plays and positioning well keeping Hespeler at bay. Jordan Hopkins
stacked the pads and steadied the glove to keep the net safe. Thorne battled
well on the Shamrocks’ boards to feed a high slot pass to Barr, who shot for
another goal. Minutes later Owen Lowry would exit and dump the puck in
Hespeler’ s end for a change on the fly. Mitchell Hunter garnered the puck
after a scramble feeding Jack Wheeler, who picked Cody Klaassen in the slot for
his shot and goal. Play would end Huskies 4, Shamrocks 2. Go Huskies!!!
