Atom LL3, U11, 2012-2013 (New Hamburg Hockey Association)

The Atom LL3 Huskies closed out their season with one last tournament. Although they were still missing their friends Connor Needham and Paul Coffey, the rest of the boys pulled together as a team to enjoy two days of hockey with some clowning around mixed in!

There are days when scores matter but today was not one of those days. The only things that had any consequence on this night were effort, perseverance and fun.

If ever a tie could be considered a win, this Saturday would definitely have qualified. Due to illness, injury and scheduling conflicts the Atom LL3 Lions came into Saturday's game against an always tough St. George team with a severely depleted lineup. As always the Generals brought with them the same energy and aggressiveness that they have for every game.  

The Huskies started another fun filled weekend with a challenging game on Friday morning. Competing in the 2012 Ayr Challenge, the boys began with a game against one of the local Ayr teams. The first period ended with no score as the defensive prowess of Connor Needham, Matthew Donkers, Jared Vandervelde and Thomas Gallie kept the front of the net clear and worked to get the puck out of their own zone. 

What a great weekend for the New Hamburg Atom LL3 Lions! It all started with a hard fought battle in a league game against Paris on Saturday morning. After 2 tough losses in a row, the boys came out and played an inspired game at both ends of the ice. They created scoring opportunities with some great passing, broke up odd man rushes with excellent effort on the back check, cleared pucks out from in front of their own net and leaned on their whirling dervish of a goaltender when all else failed! All their hard work and their ability to gel as a team during their first home game of the season ...
