Pedal down results in win against Caledon Hawks

January 16th saw the Expressway Huskie PeeWee AE's head to the Caledon Hawks nest for a late-night OMHA playoff game.

From the opening face-off the coaches and crowd saw a renewed determination from the Dogpack. The boys had a point to make and nobody was going to stop them. Both teams played a very physical game with many end to end rushes, opportunities and penalties. Tyler Jackman was a formidable wall with many red hot glove saves and a stoning on a penalty shot. Emmet Latyn's move to defence with Dale Jurica foiled the Hawks rushes over and over. While the speed and stick handling of Ethan Field, Adam Barr and Daniel Farrish kept the Huskies safe during penalty trouble. The game remained scoreless until three minutes into the third when Latyn's defensive zone pass to Jared Proll was fed to a rushing Sam Herrle, who split the Hawks defence to drive and score. The Hawks with the clock ticking away dialed up their offensive attacks but Joey Entz, Ryan Pierson and Alex Kyle rebuked their many rushes. Scott Carey and Brandon Ropp kept dump and chases alive in the Hawks end with passing opportunities to Josh Potts and Nick Egli who repeatedly met with a determined Hawks netminder. The Dogs killed off a two man disadvantage late in the third to show they were not giving up. The Huskies' insurance was sealed in the dying minutes of the third when Tyson Wagler's stretch pass to Proll, was carried in for a wraparound goal. The Hawks pulled their Goalie with 87 seconds remaining but it was to be the Huskies night with a 2-1 Final. Playoff action will continue January 19th with Owen Sound at WRC.
