By Jeff Porchak - 1st Playdown Win: Hockey Day in Canada was locally celebrated by a come-from-behind overtime victory by the New Hamburg Atom AE Huskies on Saturday.
After falling behind 1-0 early the Woolwich Wildcats, Jesse Gerber tipped a Cody West point shot to even the score. Woolwich once again took the lead with just over eight minutes left in a back and forth game as competitive as Thursday's contest. Brendan Larocque continued his sharp-shooting ways, converting off a nice feed from Colton Porchak to tie the game with 3:21 left and send the Huskies to their first overtime game. With the Huskies on the power play, Colin McBride tapped in the game winner and gave the team its first playoff and overtime win. A solid game was played by the entire Huskies roster, and the team will look to continue its strong play against Hespeler on Thursday night!! Gp Huskies!!
