More playoff action against Hespeler!
By our trusty reporter/ Jeff Porchak! The New Hamburg Atom AE Huskies squad continued its playoff run with a 4-2 win at home against the Hespeler Shamrocks on Thursday night.
After being caught flat-footed to start the game and allowing a goal 11 seconds in, the Huskies responded with a three-goal outburst by the end of the first. Kyle Barr, Presley Schaub and Brendan Larocque accounted for the Huskies offense. The second period ended with the same 3-1 score but Ethan Batte added a short-handed marker with an end-to-end rush to increase the Huskies' lead. The Shamrocks scored one late to once again cut the margin to two but that's as close as they'd get. All Huskies were instrumental in maintaining the lead during a four-minute Hespeler power play, with the team playing solid on the penalty kill.Jordan Hopkins made key saves in net hroughout the game to maintain the Huskies' lead. New Hamburg next sees action the St. Catherines Warrior tournament March 14-16.
