MIDGET LL2 SECURE WIN IN EMBRO
The New Hamburg Huskies Midget LL2s were looking for a victory in Embro on November 11, to make up for the previous week’s loss at home to St. George.

Things did not start out well for the Dogs as the Edge posted their first point on an early drive to the net that caught the Huskies flat-footed. It did not take long for the Pack to regroup. Opportunity knocked when the hosts sent a man to the box for hooking Brayden Gingerich as he forced the offensive zone. Ryan Pierson made no mistake on a feed from Gingerich to tie the contest on the power play. Less than a minute later, Alex Wagler added to the total getting help from Alex Gruhl and Pierson but the lead would be a short one. Embro immediately responded with their own equalizer to close out the period in a 2 – 2 deadlock. The Dogs came out flying in the second and posted the tie-breaker when Teegan Wagler put the puck on Pierson’s stick out in front of the Edge net. Pierson’s first shot rebounded but he swatted the airborne biscuit past the goalie in a nice secondary effort. It would be the final point of the period as the Huskies went to the penalty kill. Carter Schwartzentruber turned aside some credible attempts and kept his team in front as they headed to the third frame. The Huskies made good on the time purchased by the penalty killers and came back with an insurance marker early in the period. Alex Wagler ripped one past the goalie on a feed from Pierson that dashed the hopes of an Edge comeback. He’d do it again minutes later on an unassisted end-to-end rush that sealed the 5 – 2 win for the Pack. The Huskies hope to game some further traction as they visit the Hespeler Shamrocks on November 12.
