Rivalries usually tend to take years to develop, however the one formed between the New Hamburg Twin City Re/Max Minor Peewee Huskies and the Burlington Eagles has only taken mere months to evolve. These two teams have squared off like two boxers all year, each having won a few battles but never the war. Facing off in a best of five league championship final the war could soon be decided.

There was a sense of worry in the Twin City Re/Max Minor Peewee Huskies locker room and also within their fan base at the end of the regular season. They were riding a twenty-three game unbeaten streak when their fortunes took an unpleasant turn as that streak quickly transformed into a three game losing streak as the Huskies lost to Woolwich, Oakville and Burlington by a combined score of 8-1.

They say a team is only as good as its goaltending and its success hinges or their play. Well the New Hamburg Twin City Re/Max Minor Peewee Huskies have certainly received quality goaltending so far this year and this past weekend was no exception.

“Together Everyone Achieves More”. That’s what TEAM represents and that’s the new slogan and cheer the New Hamburg Re/Max Twin City Minor Peewee A Huskies adopted after round robin play and before hitting the ice for their tilt with the Ajax Knights in the finals of the Bradford Bulldogs Blue & Gold Classic hockey tournament on Sun Nov 25th.

One of the busiest schedules of the regular season confronted the New Hamburg Minor Peewee ‘A’ Huskies this past weekend. A stretch of four games in five nights for the Re/Max Twin City team was set in motion on Friday Nov 16 in Brampton where the small ice surface was a definite factor in the contest as neither team was able to gain clear puck possession. Not until 10:53 of the third period when Brett Gruber grabbed a loose puck at the point and shot towards the Brampton Eagle net.
