Novice LL3, U9, NH Novice House, 2012-2013 (New Hamburg Hockey Association)

The battle for Novice Local league hockey was on display Saturday at the WRC.  Both teams battled hard for the 'A' title, and unfortunately as we all find out in life, their has to be somebody who gets disapointed, this year it was us. What a game the boys put on though!  Back and forth action kept the parents and coaches excited for the entire game.  The LL4 team came out on fire and scored 2 quick goals to put us down 2-0 in the first 2 minutes of the game.  Some boys were  dejected but the coaches reminded them that this game was far from over and they needed to keep their chins up and ...

We had a great start in the New Hamburg Optimist tournament as the boys rolled over the Plattsville Rage 6-0 in the first game of the day.  Tye earned the Slushie skater as he continued to skate hard to the net and scored a gritty goal.  Brody coninued his slushie shutout streak and played well all day. What a win!  Great job guys as the semi final is behind us with a 3-0 victory!  Some players were excited at the chance of overtime, but the coaches definitely liked this outcome better.  Riley relentlessly backchecked today and earned the Slushie Skater award.  He tracked down players and set the bar high for the next few games for himself and other forwards as he was offensive minded but was taking it personally if the other team had the puck.  When he dove and knocked the puck off the LL1 players stick for the second time of the 3rd period, the slushie was safely his for the ...

Today was a great team effort as we played a well rounded game against a tough LL2 team.  Owen was the Slushie skater today as he held the blue line as we learned in practice Thursday.  He was impossible to get around on the boards and made sure the forwards could stay deep as he blasted it back into the zone whenever it came close to the blue line. Brayden moved back to play "D" today and made a 1 man rush that nobody could stop and buried it past the goalie and it proved to be the game winner. The blue and yellow playoff hair dyes of Riley, Brayden and Kaden must have worked because the boys were buzzing all over the ice today.  The 1-1 end result didn't seem right but we need the point in the round robin playoff standings! Cole Doherty earned the Slushie skater today as he dominated the game with speed, breakaways and lots of shots on net.  He ended up scoring the lone goal but if not for fantastic play of the LL1 goalie, he surely would have had 10.  Great work today Cole!
